How recovery works
From daily snapshot to one-click restore
Automated backups run on a schedule and store copies away from your web server, so the thing that breaks your site cannot also destroy the copy you need to recover from it.
Connect the site
The service connects to your files over SFTP or FTP and to your database, then takes a first full copy. It works with any host, so you do not need to move your site to start protecting it.
Daily automatic snapshots
After the baseline, only what changed is copied each day. That keeps backups fast and storage small, while still giving you a restorable point for every day rather than one weekly copy you hope is current.
Stored off your server
Copies live in separate cloud storage, not on the machine serving your site. If that server is compromised, fails, or is suspended for an unpaid invoice, your backups are unaffected and still reachable.

My host already takes daily backups — why pay for more?
Server-side backups cover the common case well and are included with our hosting. What they do not cover is the server itself being the problem: a compromise, a hardware failure, or an account suspension can take the site and the backups together. Off-server storage exists for exactly that scenario, and it is also the only option if you host somewhere that does not back up at all.

How often should a website be backed up?
Match the frequency to how much work you are willing to redo. A brochure site that changes monthly is fine on daily backups. A shop taking orders every hour loses real revenue with a day-old copy, so it needs more frequent database snapshots. The right question is not how often to back up but how much data you can afford to lose.

Will a backup protect me from being hacked?
No — it protects you from the consequences. A backup is how you get a working site back quickly, but restoring without fixing the entry point means being reinfected within days. Recovery and prevention are separate jobs: restore from a clean snapshot, then patch the vulnerability or change the credentials that let the attacker in.

How is this different from a WordPress backup plugin?
A plugin runs inside the site it is protecting. If WordPress will not load — a fatal PHP error, a white screen, a hacked admin — the plugin usually cannot be reached either, which is exactly when you need it. An external service connects over SFTP and works whether or not the site is up, and it covers non-WordPress files a plugin never touches.

Can I restore just one file instead of the whole site?
Yes, and it is usually the better move. Full restores roll back everything, including orders, comments and content added since the snapshot. Restoring the single theme file or database table that broke leaves the rest of the site untouched, which matters most on a store where a full rollback would erase real transactions.
